CJS Plants was established by Charles Short in 1980 and is still an independent family run business.

The Company is based on a five acre site in the south east of London. This unique and enviable location, in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, means that we offer our London clients one of, if not the lowest carbon footprints in the industry, due to reduced travelling times and distances.

Here all of the planting used in our displays is grown or acclimatised under two acres of glasshouse. We have a long standing policy of sourcing all of our bedding plants to be used in hanging baskets and window boxes from within the British Isles.

Over the last few years we at CJS Plants have actively worked on its environmental outlook, reducing the peat quantities in its compost, minimising water usage on our nursery and using only biological control on and off site to treat pests and diseases.

We are also extremely keen on preserving the bees and butterflies of Britain, and we use nectar rich planting where possible. Sam Short, the next generation of CJS Plants, is particularly passionate about this, and has recently become accredited by the Wildflower Turf association. We hope to increase biodiversity across London with wildflower meadows and roofs in the future.
